Children’s Oro-facial Muscular Dysfunctions – Importance of their Preventive Treatment

Abstract
Children’s Oro-Facial Muscular Dysfunctions, Specially those of Breathing Muscles are the Most Dangerous and Destructive Ones.

 An overlooked “Abnormal Muscular Breathing Function” without any treatment can be the cause of serious physical, dental and mental health problems, ranging from a Daytime Sleepiness to Sleep Related Breathing Dysfunctions (SRBDs) and Life-Threatening Cardiovascular Complications.

In addition, they can be the cause of lack of concentration, school failures and increased risk of psychological problems including depression and drug dependency which can damage their social relations and adversely affect their job performance.

Therefore, Children’s or Adult’s Breathing Muscular Dysfunctions Can affect not only their oral but also general health, their quality of life and can have very serious psychologic, socio-economic consequences which could further complicate into suicide.

Consequently, their treatment by Dental and Medical Specialists, as early as possible in infancy or childhood, is of outmost importance.
