Primary and secondary tongue thrust identification with surface EMG

Abstract
This lecture explores the use of surface electromyography to identify primary tongue thrust. People with this specific dysfunction, previously known as endogenous, often don’t respond to traditional treatments like orthodontics, surgery, or oromyofunctional therapy. However, surface electromyography offers new hope for these individuals by providing a simpler and more accurate diagnostic protocol. A key part of this approach is mandibular tracking, which helps us gain a clearer understanding and potentially revolutionize the way we diagnose and treat this condition.
